2024-2025 Program Details!

YWCA Mankato is excited to announce our partnership with APX Construction to launch the 2024-2025 Trades Trailblazers program, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at introducing middle school girls to rewarding careers in the trades!

Beginning in September 2024, this hands-on program will empower middle school participants with the skills and confidence to excel in traditionally male-dominated fields, culminating in the construction of a tiny home.

Registration is now full! We are excited to provide updates as the home is being built. Another cohort year for this program will start in September 2025.

Program Highlights

Hands-On Learning:

Participants will gain practical experience in various trades, including carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and more. Through guided workshops and real-world projects, students will learn the foundational skills necessary to thrive in the trades industry.

Building a Tiny Home:

The capstone project for the Trades Trailblazers program is the construction of a fully functional tiny home. This ambitious project will allow students to apply their new skills in a collaborative, supportive environment while contributing to a tangible, community-focused goal.

Empowerment and Confidence:

Trades Trailblazers aims to dismantle stereotypes and encourage young girls to pursue careers in the trades. By providing a nurturing and inclusive environment, we strive to build confidence and foster a sense of achievement in every participant.
