Solidarity Saturday: North Star Act

Gather with the local community and nonprofits to learn more about the North STAR Act.

Free food and drinks will be provided.

If passed, The North STAR Act would ban state and local agencies throughout Minnesota from cooperating with ICE. The act would:

-Prohibit local and state law enforcement from using state resources for civil immigration enforcement. Immigration enforcement is the responsibility of the federal government, not the state. We don’t need to spend state resources on it.
-Ensure law enforcement couldn't ask individuals about their citizenship status.
-Make it illegal to arrest an individual based on a civil immigration warrant.
-Ban immigrant detention in public jails and prisons.
-Prohibit the practice of excluding incarcerated undocumented immigrants from early- release and work- release programs.

This event is co-hosted by the ACLU of Minnesota, COPAL, and Indivisible St. Peter/Greater Mankato.
